According to Xenu´s Link Sleuth there are 1907 links in the Chess Portal the 14th of February 2003. I am not going to count them myself.

FIDE HOMEPAGE BACK AGAIN
The homepage of FIDE has returned to the web and the counter is working again. Today the counter passed 20000 hits.

FIDE HOMEPAGE DOWN
The homepage of FIDE, the World Chess Federation, has been down since the 27th or the 28th of June, which is very strange. The organization can hardly have disappeared or gone broke - it ought to be caused by technical problems, server problems or something of that kind.
In any case The Chess Portal counter does not work any longer, because it was associated with FIDE´s Top Chess Sites. Last time I controlled it, it displayed about 16000 hits, 15998 if I am not mistaken. In any case I will get myself a new counter, even if the FIDE counter starts to function again, to protect the Chess Portal from similar accidents in the future. The FIDE counter had the advantage that you could see which pages that were most frequented. The high number of hits on the section "Chess theory" in the Chess Portal surprised me actually.

COMPUTER PROBLEM
I have had computer problem and lost a hard disc, which means that I have not been able to work with The Chess Portal from my home. I could not update the page as planned.
